WHAT WE BELIEVE

At the heart of who we are, we believe in God. We believe that God is love and is always with us. We believe prayer places us in spiritual relationship with God, others, and self. We believe the Bible shares faith stories of God's covenants of promise and presence. We believe Jesus is the Christ, Son of God, in whom God's unconditional love is revealed. We believe the Lord's Supper is an invitation to all people, symbolizing God's grace and forgiveness. We believe in God's continuing resurrecting power that offers hope, joy, and newness of life both now and eternally.

More About Us - DoC

who we are

We are part of the Christian Church, Disciples of Christ in the United States and Canada. Founded in the early 1800’s, our denomination continues to be influenced by its founding ideals of our unity in Christ with openness and diversity in practice and belief. The red chalice symbolizes the central place of communion in worship. The cross on the chalice is in the position of being carried. This is the cross of the disciple Andrew, which serves as a reminder of the ministry of each person. As members of the Christian Church (DOC) and the universal body of Christ, all are welcome to participate in weekly sacrament of communion. It is Christ’s table, not ours. It is Christ’s invitation, not ours. We welcome all to the Lord’s table, as God has welcomed us.

freedom of opinion

We respect freedom of opinion and believe that people should have room to form their own personal ideas and understandings within the Christian tradition. We are a church that welcomes diversity in all aspects. We are not here to pass judgment on people, but to share unity and celebrate the life and love of Jesus. We strive to create an inspirational, loving, hope-filled environment where all people strongly experience the grace and love of God. As a congregation, we practice prayer, worship, fellowship, service, compassion, education, sharing of faith, and spiritual honesty. We are not growing spiritually to earn our salvation or to make God love us. God loves us and there is nothing we can do about it!  Our goal in spiritual growth is to have a full and robust experience of life in God’s kingdom right now.
