SUNDAY CHURCH SCHOOL CLASSES ~ 10 A.M. SUNDAY MORNINGS
There are currently 5 different Church School classes for adults at First Christian Church that meet Sundays at 10 A.M. If you aren’t part of a Church School class at this time, please consider adding Church School to your Sunday morning. Below you will find descriptions of the 5 different classes. You are invited to visit each class to help you decide where you want to land or go directly to the one that interests you the most!
THE HENSON CLASS
Location: In the Chapel, across the courtyard
Teachers: There are 4 teachers and one substitute who rotate teaching weekly. The current teachers are currently Jim and Dana Glossbrenner, Bill Adams, Dick
Funk, and Mollie Polhemus.
Curriculum: The class members use a quarterly publication, “The Present Word,” as a basis
for weekly lessons. The study guide is published by the Disciples of Christ, the
Presbyterian Church USA, United Church of Christ and the Moravian Church.
More: All who come to First Christian Church are welcome, whether it is their first time
or they are regular attendees. Each Henson Class begins with two hymns chosen by the teacher of the week and an offering is taken each Sunday to support local charitable causes as well as various First Christian Church programs.
THE LIBRARY CLASS
Location: The Library Class meets in the Library which is located at the far end of the first floor hall.
Teacher: The Rev. Regina Attaway
Curriculum: For the summer, we are discussing the morning’s sermon and the Scripture passage used in the sermon.
More: We are a small class but very welcoming and encourage any and everyone to join us on Sunday morning at 10 a.m.
THE OPEN DOOR CLASS
Location: The class is located on the second floor of the main building. Just as you enter from the back parking lot you will see the elevator on your right. As you arrive at the second floor, The Open Door Class is the first classroom across the hall.
Teacher: Greg Gossett
Curriculum: The class is Bible based, but does not follow any curriculum. Generally lessons are based on current books, articles and treatises with Christian theme. One goal is to learn something new from the Bible each week.
More: The class is active in assisting in church wide events at First Christian. They also have coffee for anyone interested!
THE KOINONIA CLASS
Location: We meet upstairs across from the choir room in the room with the purple door.
We include and welcome all adult age groups in lively discussion of the sermon topic and scripture of the week, discussing how it might apply to our church and to our daily lives. All viewpoints are welcome. Koinonia is Greek for fellowship. Join us!
Teacher: Dr. Kent Fish
